About AQS: Staff Biographies
Marcelle Cashon, Member Services Director
Marcelle became our Member Services Director when Karen Weaver retired in December of 2011. Marcelle is the link between AQS and our members. If you call with a membership question or drop by the membership booth during one of our shows, you will meet Marcelle. She is the gal with the answers to your questions. Marcelle will be taking new memberships, processing all the renewals, and keeping membership information up-to-date. She also will handle the recordkeeping for the AQS Quilt Appraisal Program.
She and her husband, John, a Paducah native, moved here from Orlando, Florida, to be near his parents. Having heard of Quilt City USA, Marcelle researched Paducah, visited The National Quilt Museum, and ultimately came to work for AQS. A sewer for 25+ years, she studied fashion design at Virginia Marti College of Art & Design in Lakewood, Ohio. Marcelle designs and makes clothing for herself and others and has taught herself to quilt. So far, she’s finished two baby quilts and has four other projects underway.
Marcelle is one lucky lady. Before she and John were married, they put their names in a drawing at a bridal fair, went on the radio to play the Nearly Wed Game, and won an all inclusive wedding—dress, tux, limo, caterer, videographer, reception at the Orlando Science Center, and a honeymoon in the Bahamas. We’re just as lucky to have her with us.
