About AQS: Staff Biographies
Angela Henry, Managing Editor of AQ Magazine
If you love our American Quilter magazine, then you already know and love Angela’s work. She’s been with AQS for over 14 years and has been involved with just about every aspect of our operations, from designing show pins, bags, and billboards, to designing books and working on our catalogs. On occasion, she’s even served as our hand model. Now she designs American Quilter and is involved in the production end of all our books.
Although born in New Jersey, her family moved back to her mother’s home state when she was three years old and she has lived in Kentucky ever since. She comes from a family of four sisters, all of whom are avid board game players. Happily they live close enough to each other to get together often for what are no doubt rousing and competitive sessions. They also count trivia champions among their accomplishments. She, two of her sisters, and her dad field a team twice a year at the St. Mary school fundraisers.
Angela’s creative energies manifest themselves in the kitchen. She’s a marvelous cook and baker—talents we particularly appreciate. She has one quilt to her credit that has remained a UFO since her class with Bonnie Browning, our show director. The leftover scraps were recently donated to our designer and author Lynda Smith to use in her upcoming Quilt This! class at the Paducah show.
Her little dog Sasha (that’s Sasha in the framed photo with Angela) was one of a rescued litter of rat terrier/miniature Doberman puppies and has been snuggled around Angela’s neck since she was just two pounds old. Alas, she’s outgrown the Winnie the Pooh slipper sock Angela converted into a sweater upon Sasha’s arrival. Designers . . . they can do just about anything!
