Martha DeLeonardis

Martha DeLeonardis

Martha DeLeonardis is an internationally known, award-winning quilt artist who grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio University in 1981 with a BS in chemical engineering. Martha worked in industry for six years before retiring to stay at home with her two sons. Martha has been sewing since she can remember. In the second grade, she was making her own clothes under her motherís tutelage, an expert seamstress herself. Martha started quilting in 1995 when her children were young and her family lived in a small town in Ohio. She became seriously involved in this art form after moving to Katy, Texas, in 2000. She has been greatly influenced by the quilting community in the greater Houston area. Martha has had numerous quilts juried into national and international competitions, winning a blue ribbon in 2008 at the Houston International Quilt Festival. She was also a finalist in The National Quilt Museumís Sunflower: New Quilts from Old Favorite contest in 2010 and is featured in the companion book by the same name.
