In addition to teaching, Michelle wrote her first quilting book in 1987 titled The Orange Peel Method, which focused on a fast and easy construction for rail quilts and variations. “As a teacher, I saw that some of my students were struggling with their miniature quilts. They were having trouble piecing together their quilts accurately. I knew there had to be a better way. So I started experimenting with an idea, fine-tuning the method and developing it for larger quilts. And the ‘Square Magic Method’ was born.”
Michelle currently lives in North Carolina with her husband, Ron, and dog, Hoppy. She has two children and four grandchildren.
