Teri Henderson Tope

Teri Henderson Tope has been a lifelong seamstress and a quilter since 1982. Teri’s quilting life really started with a pregnancy and six weeks of bed rest. Anyone who knows her knows that this would have been almost impossible for her to do were it not for an American Patchwork and Quilting® magazine and a box of chintz fabric samples. That first quilt was an appliquéd Dresden Plate quilted to a bed sheet. And the rest, as they say, is history. Two more beautiful daughters and many more quilts were to follow, all culminating in this adventure titled Appliqué in Reverse.

Teri and her husband run Gumshoe Studio, a graphic design and web-based marketing firm out of their home in Worthington, Ohio, www.gumshoestudio.com. She owns Material Girl Designs, a pattern business, www.materialgirldesigns.com, and is the partner of Liz Canty in their business, We’ve Got the Notion, www.wevegotthenotion.com

Teri is a member of the American Quilting Association, the National Quilting Association, the Quintessential Quilters, The Appliqué Society, the American Quilt Alliance, the Worthington International Friendship Association, and the S&M Quilters (that’s “stitch and munch” quilters) along with a few other organizations because she has a problem with saying the word “no.” She has displayed quilts in many national and international quilt venues winning a ribbon or two. She also teaches and lectures and was given the honor of representing the city of Worthington by teaching quilting in its sister city, Sayama, Japan.

Quilting has been Teri’s joy, "Life is too short, so enjoy it…quilt!"
