Kay Velarde

Kay Velarde

Kay Velarde was born and grew up in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in Southwestern Virgina. After graduating from a branch campus of the University of Virginia, she left home for the lure of travel as a career serviceman in the Air Force. Kay loves to piece by hand and regularly practices her hand quilting. Retirement has offered time to pursue a second career in writing. Kay is proud to be an American Quilter's Society fiction author. She loves mysteries and hopes many quilters will share her enthusiasm for the combination of mystery and quilting.

Esther Vermeer

Esther Vermeer is a quilt designer and painter living near a bilingual village in rural Manitoba, Canada. She was introduced to quilting in 1998,and uses an eclectic approach when planning a new project. Her inspirations often include North European mythology, the brilliant colors and natural shapes of Art Nouveau, and the elegance of Art Deco. She is also experimenting with abstract and manga. Her work has been featured in various exhibits and when she's not in her studio or taking classes, she teaches private and group workshops in English and French.
