Each of the three friends who collaborated to produce this book is well known for a particular style of quiltmaking. Karen Combs uses illusions created by color and value choices, Bethany Reynolds is of Stack–n–Whack fame and Joan Shay uses a three–dimensional appliqué technique: the basics of each method is covered in an opening chapter. This is followed by a variety of diverse seasonal projects, including a few throw size quilts, all designed by Bethany Reynolds, but most are smaller pieces. Each month has at least one pattern – sometimes a coordinating table runner accompanies a hanging. Each maker agreed to learn more about the others’ techniques and incorporate them into their designs where possible, and sometimes two makers worked together on a pattern, so the projects are often a combination of methods. As a finale the three combined their talents to create the first ´Appli–bonded Stack–n–Whack Quilt of Illusion`, a fun hanging. This book may well provide the quilter with some experience & new ideas to include in their work. - Popular Patchwork – July 2005
