I love this book....it is even better than the first one....there are such lovely patterns to choose from....and the quilt featured on the front is a project inside the book. I love foundation piecing, and although some of the patterns look "challenging", the directions are easy to follow. -Helena K. Merrick

"Quilts with Attitude" is all about having fun and using fabrics you love. - 06/03/2009
Reviewer: Fabric Trends Magazine from USA

"Quilt Maven" Deb Karasik learned a long time ago (and many quilts ago) that her quilts decide how they want to look. According to Deb, they are the creative force behind their own genesis; she is just the stitcher. Once a quilt is in progress, it develops a style and character all its own. Her second book, "Quilts with Attitude," is all about creating precise, flamboyant quilts––quilts that have personality. It is chock full of great ideas, information, and patterns to make 13 spectacular projects. "Quilt with Attitude" is a book for the contemporary quilter. The tips, tools, and techniques provided are helpful to all quilters; however, the projects featured are innovative and bold with bright colors, foundation-pieced construction, and machine quilting that has a modern flair. The first chapter is a reference chapter that introduces and also familiarizes intermediate quilts with the basic process of quilt designing. Deb starts at the very beginning of the whole process, from the birth of an idea, and what inspires her designs, to the frenzy of construction. She tackles the plethora of design choices quilters face––color, shape, texture, size, and how to achieve dynamic and complex-looking quilts. The rest of the book includes quilt patterns. One can start out simply by making a small placemat, and then move on to more intricate and impressive whallhangings ranging in size from 22" to 62" square. The step-by-step instructions include lots of charts and clear, detailed diagrams, as well as stunning quilt photos. The quilts are all paper-pieced, and the patterns, which are on a companion CD, can be printed from your own printer in the correct size. Deb assures you that quilts do speak to us––the fabrics and colors that are right will make themselves knows. - Fabric Trends magazine, Summer 2009, page 79.
