The clear straight forward instructions are easy to follow. The side bars detail many tips and suggestions. You almost feel as though a instructor is in the room with you. She has added a new twist to an old quilting technique and encourages you to do the same. I have been intrigued by crazy quilts for a while. This release by Alice Wilhoit is a great title for novice quilters. It adds a new twist to crazy quilts by presenting a gorgeous flower and gemstone quilt block for each month. These appliquéd blocks are foundation pieced. In addition to the flower quilt blocks, this book features three projects using the blocks. These include a framed picture, a throw pillow, and a mantle scarf. This title has step by step directions for all of the crazy quilt techniques, including foundation piecing. In her new book, “Crazy Patchwork,” we follow Alice Wilhoit as she creates a crazy patchwork quilt based on a gem and flower of the month. They can be made to commemorate a family event such as a wedding, birthday or anniversary. Alice uses batiks and other fabrics to create her foundation blocks. Once the blocks are finished the fun begins. You can add appliqué, decorative stitching, beads, laces, ribbons
and any embellishment you would like as you create your own family treasure. The book has all the appliqué patterns used to create the blocks of the month. Instructions for both basic appliqué and needle turn appliqué.
