    Description

Experienced quilters who want to share sewing and quilting ideas with tweens and teens will love these fresh ideas for accessories, home dec items, and quilts. A total of 17 projects include styles for boys or girls, young children or older, traditional or trendy colors, and bed or wall-size quilts. Projects such as the quilted laptop cover and the message board will appeal to quilters of any age. Several of the projects combine traditional art forms of collage, rubbings, and mosaic patterning, along with the techniques of piecing, appliqué, and embroidery. Both hand and machine techniques are included throughout. Because beginners and especially children are visual learners, every project is laid out with good basic quiltmaking instruction in easy to follow step-by-step photos.

This book was a little different than I had thought, but is good for the Teens and Tweens generation on quilting. Lots of different projects. Good instruction. Really satisfied with the service I got from the vendor. Had the book in 2 days from order on line. -B. DePoy

Share the joy of sewing with the kids in your life. - 01/28/2010
Reviewer: Quilter's Home magazine from USA

When we speak to those q-bizzers most in the know, we hear the same worry-filled refrain: How will we get young people interested in quilting? As anyone looking around a guild meeting knows, the bales of gray hair in the audience practically guarantees Clairol is recession-proof. But, we're so over the whining, girls. Instead, we're challenging all you quilters to do something about it. If you want quilting to survive the demise of the baby boomers, grab a youngster and start sewing with them. Which brings us to this book. Mother and daughter stitchers, Anita and Jennifer, offer a great start with simple, relevant projects that include quilts, cell phone holders and ponchos...stuff that kids will want to sew. All the projects presume an adult is around for handy help, which means you get some quality time with your favorite junior. Some are tailor made (we're so punny) for scout and youth groups. Just picture making one of these quilts as a club fundraiser. Then see all those parents with fists o' cash, fighting to win their kids' quilt in a raffle. (Yep, sounds like a guild meeting.) "Should you buy this book?"...We did, because we have kids in our lives and they need to feel the joy of sewing. --Quilter's Home magazine, February/March 2010, page 68.
