In Memoriam Bonnie Leman
Passing of a Quilt World Icon
by AQS Staff
Paducah, Ky., September 9, 2010 – The staff of the American Quilter’s Society is saddened by the news of Bonnie Leman. As the founder and editor of Quilters Newsletter magazine, Bonnie’s work was a staple of many quilters’ daily lives. Bonnie passed her leadership role at QNM to her daughter, Mary, in 1996 so her legacy has and will remain a huge part in the quilt world.
Bonnie was inducted into the Quilter’s Hall of Fame in 1982 which is the same year that she and her family launched Quiltmaker, their second magazine. We invite you to visit The Quilters Hall of Fame to learn more about Bonnie’s life and to view tributes from other quilters.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
