Thursday, January 27, 2011, Paducah, Ky. – The National Quilt Museum has added two new, adult beginner workshops to its 2011 Schedule.

The first is a 3-hour workshop, “Quilting Fundamentals,” designed to help beginners with the basics needed to quilt. Students will learn the essential skills of measuring, safe use of the rotary cutter, how to use a sewing machine, and fabric selection and preparation before quilting. The workshop is open to anyone wishing to learn, or refresh, basic skills. The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost to attend the workshop is $10.

The second workshop is “Let’s Get Started Quilting.” This 4-week class will teach adult beginners how to create a beautiful Log Cabin Quilt. The class will meet the 4 Mondays in February, starting on the 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Students will need to have mastered the basic skills defined in the “Quilting Fundamentals Workshop.” Participants will be using the book, Quilter’s Complete Guide to Quilting by Fons & Porter and must have, or purchase, the book for class. Tuition for the class is $50.00.

To register for classes, contact Becky Glasby at (270) 442-8856 x 209 or send an email to: info@quiltmuseum.org.
