American Quilter’s Society Expands Executive Management Team to Support Growth
by AQS Staff
Paducah, Ky., January 23, 2012 –– American Quilter’s Society announces that Richard Louise has joined the company as its new chief operating officer. His appointment brings further depth and breadth of experience to AQS’s management team as the company intensifies its focus on growth and operations.
As COO, Louise leverages his more than 25 years experience in finance, sales and marketing, successful business leadership, and market development experience as he directs the execution of AQS’s corporate strategy to increase market share, revenue, and brand recognition.
Louise said, “I am very pleased to have been chosen for this position as I believe the future is quite bright for AQS. I am very much looking forward to being part of this company’s future. We will be working hard on organic as well as acquisitive growth of the company.”
Schroeder Publishing Company president Billy Schroeder said, “After nearly a year-long search for a COO I am very excited about the opportunity to work beside Richard. I feel he will bring the expertise and fresh ideas that AQS needs to remain the leader in the quilt industry.” Schroeder Publishing is the parent company of the American Quilter’s Society.
SPC vice-president Rick Loyd said, “I’m excited about Richard joining us as COO. His philosophies of business and personnel are excellent and I believe he has the ability and passion to take our company to the next level.”
Louise will work with Meredith Schroeder, AQS President, on a transition that will include her retirement from the day-to-day oversight of company operations. Saying she is “thrilled to have Richard on board as we continue our commitment to Paducah and the entire quilting community,” Meredith will remain on the board of directors and attend the AQS quilt shows, where she is a familiar face to quilters from around the world.
The American Quilter’s Society is a membership organization and a publishing house operating as part of Schroeder Publishing Company. The cash prizes awarded at its four juried and judged annual quilt shows are among the most generous and prestigious in the quilt world. AQS publishes American Quilter magazine and The Quilt Life magazine bi-monthly, the Quilt Art Engagement Calendar, the AQS Wall Calendar, registration guides and show books for the quilt shows, photo CDs of juried show quilts, and 20 or more how-to quilt books each year.
