by Sylvia J. Thomas

The 25th Annual American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show & Contest will be held at the Paducah Expo/Executive Inn complex in Paducah, Kentucky, April 22–25, 2009.

Representatives of the American Quilter’s Society alongside Paducah city officials made the announcement today during a press conference. According to Mayor Bill Paxton, “The Julian M. Carroll Convention Center will be remodeled in time for the show.”

AQS President Meredith Schroeder stated, “Space Coast Hospitality Management Services, the new owners and management company of the Executive Inn, has contracted with A & K Construction, Inc., of Paducah, Kentucky, to renovate all of the hotel rooms and provide improved hotel services by April, 2009.”

Registration information for the Quilt Show & Contest will be available in November 2008.

Bonnie Browning, executive show director for AQS, stated, “Plans for the show are already in progress and, with this being our 25th anniversary, we are going to make it bigger and better than ever.”

Information regarding room reservations at the Executive Inn will soon be available on the AQS Web site, www.AmericanQuilter.com. For information regarding other accommodations, contact the Paducah-McCracken County Convention & Visitors Bureau by calling 1-800-PADUCAH or visit them online at www.paducah.travel.

Schroeder said, “We are looking forward to our 25th anniversary in Paducah and we hope everyone will enjoy the quilts, the show, and the city.”
