"Pieces of a Collection: Selected Quilts from the Pioneer Woman Museum" will showcase historically significant quilts from the museum's permanent collection. Located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, a thriving rural town in northeastern Oklahoma, the Pioneer Woman Statue & Museum is home to the world famous Pioneer Woman Statue and a collection of 10,000+ objects highlighting women's history in Oklahoma.

Future Fabrication: SDA 2017 Annual International Exhibition In Print

EXHIBITION IN PRINT: SDA member and non-member artists working in or inspired by fiber arts and/or textile media are invited to submit work for a juried issue of the Surface Design Journal, Future Fabrication: SDA Annual International Exhibition in Print. Selected work will appear in print in the Winter 2017/18 issue of the Surface Design Journal (publication date December 23, 2017). In celebration of SDA's 40th anniversary, this Exhibition In Print aims to recognize the diversity of talent working within the fields of fiber and surface design as well as other practices that utilize fiber and textile materials. This year's theme, Future Fabrication, asks artists to think about how innovations related to fiber and textile materials might shape our future. SDA warmly invites entries that consider advancements in technological innovation, material exploration, as well as provide a glimpse into the future through concept and form. Artists working in all media invited to apply. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY FEE: This exhibition is open to all artists, with discounted entry fee offered to members of Surface Design Association (SDA). Artists may enter up to three pieces/images. 2D and 3D works are eligible, as is documentation of time-based media, performance, or conceptual work. As the call is for an exhibition in print, only photographic documentation of work will be accepted for consideration. Work must have been completed since January 1, 2014. Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or supervision is not eligible.

Surface Design Association NEWS RELEASE: For Immediate Release Date: March 25, 2017 Contact: Making Our Mark, Surface Design Association 40th Anniversary Intensive: Final Lineup of Speakers, plus Registration Now Open Surface Design Association will hold its biennial conference, Making Our Mark: SDA at 40, in Portland, Oregon, August 3-6, 2017. SDA is a 501c3 non-profit textile arts organization, dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of textile-inspired art and design. Making Our Mark focuses on Past, Present and Future with a lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions, demonstrations and exhibitions. Conference partners are Portland State University and Oregon College of Art and Craft. Additional sponsors include the American Crafts Council and Friends of Fiber Art. Registration via the SDA website is now open. Keynote speakers include Sheila Pepe, Josh Faught, Aram Han Sifuentes and Jane Lackey. Friday’s “Concept + Context Day” events will take place at Portland State University, with presentations by speakers by Josh Faught (keynote), Shelley Socolofsky (sponsored by the American Tapestry Alliance), Aaron McIntosh, and Patricia Courtney Gold. Also included are panel discussions Crossing Generations moderated by Jane Sauer, and Fashion & Technology Panel. Selected SDA members will present work in 20x20x40, a PechaKucha-like event. Friday will end with Jane Lackey’s public keynote lecture, The Substance of Marks, sponsored by the American Craft Council. Saturday will be “Concept + Practice Day” at Oregon College of Art and Craft, with concurrent demos and presentations throughout the day in areas such as OCAC’s Fab Lab and jacquard weaving studios, Susan Stover, Wildcraft Studio School, Jorie Johnson, and Jeana Eve Klein. Additional presentations include Adrienne Sloane, Mary Babcock, Gretchen Morrissey, Kiranada Sterling Benjamin, The Power of Eight Artist Group, Jo Hamilton, Ja Young Hwang and Amy Lund. Friday will end with a reception for Crossing Generations at OCAC’s Hoffman Gallery. The Conference concludes with Awards and final keynote address by Aram Han Sifuentes on Sunday morning. 40th Anniversary Commemorations will take place throughout the conference. Several concurrent events and exhibits will also take place. They include Crossing Generations: Past, Present, Future, an invitational 40th Anniversary exhibit at OCAC’s Hoffman Gallery, curated by Jane Sauer, as well as A Space to Enter, works by Jane Lackey in Autzen Gallery, PSU. In addition, SDA will feature Future Tense, an exhibition of student work in the MK +AB Gallery at PSU, and Small Works: SDA at 40 members’ exhibit at OCAC. A pop-up trunk show and sale of members’ works will take place on Thursday afternoon at PSU. Special events for students include a breakout session with Sheila Pepe, mentoring and networking, scholarship assistance, 10x20 Students Making Our Mark student presentation, Future Tense student exhibition, and discounted student registration rates and economical dormitory accommodations. Planned as a more intimate experience allowing plenty of networking opportunities, attendees must be SDA members. Student memberships are available. Housing is available to conferees through the University Place Hotel & Conference Center, as well as in Portland State University dormitories. Conference registration fees are $390 for regular attendees, $200 for students. Diamond State Quilt Show 2017

Wonderful quilts will be judged for ribbons at our show. We will have great vendors that will offer a variety of quilt related products at this event. Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Fire Hall Auxiliary people. Elkton is right off of I-95 and signs will direct you to the quilt show. Lodging is available on the main road to the event. Our last show was in 2013 and was a huge success. We are on Facebook as the Diamond State Quilt Show 2017.
