Piecemakers by the Bay Quilt Guild of Rockport, TX present their post hurricane Harvey recovery show, "A New Leaf." Many quilts will be featured and judged, 17 quilt vendors (a one-stop-shop-hop), silent auction items, scrap dive, country store, door prizes, and entry gifts. Quilts by the Sea

The 2020 Quilts By The Sea Quilt Show will feature over 200 guild members’ quilted creations on display. The show only comes around every three years and will be held from 9am to 5pm both days. The show will display over 200 quilts demonstrating a variety of techniques from traditional to art quilts, hand pieced and appliqued to commercially quilted works. Holiday quilts, quilted wearables and an exhibit of a quilt challenge honoring our 30th anniversary are of special interest. The show will also offer a community quilt sew-in, offering participants of all ages the opportunity to work on a quilt for the Amelia Island community. In addition to the quilts on display a Quilt and Fiber Art Boutique will have items for sale. Fabric, patterns, sewing machines and other merchandise will be available in the Merchant Mall from a variety of vendors. A scissor and knife sharpening vendor will be on site. The Silent Auction features wall sized beautiful quilted creations. There will be Door Prizes, Basket Raffles and Technique Demonstrations, as well.

Surface Design Association's Future Tense 2020 call for entries

Future Tense 2020 will celebrate the creative work of student artists, designers, and makers working with or inspired by fiber or textile materials or techniques. Future Tense 2020 offers a glimpse into the future of contemporary fibers by presenting the very best work being made by students in the field today. All SDA members and non-member students working in all media are encouraged to apply. Surface Design Association (SDA) invites students to submit work for the annual SDA Juried Student Exhibition, FUTURE TENSE 2020. The exhibition will be held at Appalachian Center for Craft Gallery at Tennessee Tech, August 13 - October 27. The exhibition includes awards. Entries may be submitted online at the website.

Each year, SDA’s International Exhibition In Print showcases the breadth and depth of contemporary artists and designers working with or inspired by fiber art and/or textile-based materials, methods, and techniques. The work of selected artists are featured in the Fall 2020 issue of the Surface Design Journal. The Surface Design Journal is read by artists, gallery owners, curators, scholars, and enthusiasts nationally and internationally. Entries may be submitted online by visiting the website.
