A lifelong interest in quilting was instilled by her grandmother when Eileen was a youngster. A move to Plano, Texas, in 1988 led to an invitation to assist the Heritage Farmstead in cataloging quilts in Collin County, Texas. She coordinated the recording and photographing of more than 450 quilts. The project, with the assistance of Plano Quilt Guild members, culminated in an exhibit at the Heritage Farmstead Museum. With the encouragement of friends, Eileen began producing her own line of patterns under the business name of Peonies Needlework Crafts. Her patterns feature three-dimensional appliqué, traditional appliqué, and piecing elements. She began to teach in local shops and soon was teaching nationally. After moving to Arizona in 1994, this prizewinning quilter served as the coordinator for the Q.U.I.L.T. Education program for the Arizona Quilter’s Guild and was founding president of the Phoenix Area Quilters Association.
