Roberta Shelby Morse, known to Paducahans as Ro, shares her take on things to enjoy in Paducah from personal experiences in her beloved hometown. Her passion for Paducah runs deep. Mother of two grown sons plus two bonus children and three granddaughters, Ro is blessed with her lot in life. Originator of Whaler’s Catch Restaurant in 1977, she respects the grueling work and immense rewards of entrepreneurship. She coordinated the Jubilee Riverboat project and served as Paducah’s director of tourism and downtown events coordinator. She was the interim director of the River Heritage Museum and chairman of the Civic Beautification Board. Ro has authored three cookbooks, taught in the culinary arts department at the community college, and cofounded the first ever Barbecue on the River. She works on various radio station projects with her husband, Gary, who manages Bristol Broadcasting Company. Her grandest challenge with this book was to limit her list to 100. The American Quilter’s Society editors did the hard part––they made the cuts.
