    Description

Those who have struggled with machine quilting will be relieved and delighted with the author's step-by-step tour of the world of machine quilting. Ports of call on the tour include fabric selection and preparation, choosing batting and backing fabric, pin basting layers, marking the quilt, thread choice, quilting sequence, walking foot and free-motion quilting, and finishing and washing the quilt. The sections on marking the quilting design and changing bobbin tension are particularly helpful as are the tips on lighting and managing the quilt in the machine. Practice your skills on three charming quilt patterns: Trip Around the World wall quilt, Log Cabin Revisited, and Sixteen Baskets of Mud.

Guide to Machine Quilting by Diane Gaudynski - 06/16/2012
Reviewer: McCall's Quilting magazine from USA

A must-have, in-depth reference by a true master quilter. Gorgeous photos, practical advice, and who wouldn't want to know how Diane makes her magic? -- McCall’s Quilting magazine, July-August 2011, page 16.

    An invaluable resource - 07/07/2009
Reviewer: The Quilter Magazine from USA

Diane Gaudynski is well known in the machine quilting world for her superb skill. Her previous release, "Guide to Machine Quilting," first published in 2002 and still in print, was a comprehensive guide to the craft and an instant classic in which she shared her award-winning techniques and vast knowledge of all aspects of quiltmaking and finishing. "Gaudynski's Machine Quilting Guidebook," called a "detailed road map to skilled machine quilting," is based on Diane's popular machine quilting series in "American Quilter" magazine. In this book, Diane provides the ins and outs of creating a design that improves accuracy and pattern fluidity. She dispels six common myths about machine quilting and includes techniques for several unmarked free-hand, free-motion designs, including spirals, leaves, fronds, and clamshells. The author also gives a detailed description of echo quilting and echo-quilted feathers, which are especially popular among quilters. This book is an invaluable resource for adding to one's general knowledge of machine-quilting skills and assists in solving some common problems encountered by machine quilters. The Quilter Magazine, September 2009, page 103.
