    Description

These fifteen yummy vegetable patterns can be gathered into a single quilt or served up singly to make a pillow, table runner, or what-not. The patterns are sized for 9 inch to 10 inch blocks, but they may be enlarged as desired for biggerprojects. A green bean border pattern is included, just for fun. The blocks range in complexity from as few as 19 pieces for the peppers and carrots to 77 for the artichokes. Instructions and tips for choosing colors and appliquéing the pieces are given for each vegetable. Any appliqué technique can be used, and the veggies could also be interpreted in other needlework and would look especially delectable in embroidery. Fabric amounts are given for the three different quilt projects presented, along with color photos and full-sized patterns.

Gather a bushel of veggies for your appliqué projects with Bea Oglesby’s new book "Veggies from the Good Earth: Appliqué Album." Bea combines her love of sewing and drawing to create this delightful book of veggie patterns. The book has 15 full-size vegetable patterns that you can use on their own or combine to make three quilt projects also available in the book. Each pattern comes complete with “planting guidelines”--fabric selection tips, yardage amounts, and placement diagrams. Patterns range from simple 19-piece peppers or carrots to the challenging 77-piece artichoke. The green-bean border pattern is a perfect way to wrap up your garden quilt. The patterns are appliquéd on 13-inch finished squares. Patterns fit an 11-inch or larger block. Review Source: The Appliqué Society Newsletter, March/April 2007, page 16

Veggies from the Good Earth Applique Album offers a theme and something different in an applique world often dominated by birds and flower designs: it selects vegetable applique designs from the garden, offers 15 full-size patterns for producing them, and also offers tips on blending them into a larger quilting project. From yardage to fabrics, tips are specific and offer everything from a every simple pepper piece to a more challenging 77-piece artichoke. Any who use applique will relish the different designs and subject here. Review Source: Diane Donovan, Editor & Sr. Reviewer, Bookwatch/California Bookwatch
