Show off your inner quilter with vivacious curvy piecing! Dianne Hire firmly believes in the power of play, and she demonstrates how to bring fun into any quilt with her easy-to-do curved piecing technique. Eleven wallhanging projects are self-developed as you learn the ins and outs of each technique. Multiple methods assure good results every time a curve is pieced, whether continuous, vessel-shaped, circular, crescent, or a combination. Approximately 100 photos of Dianne's work and pieces by her students show just how striking and innovative individual quilts can be when using vivacious curves. Before you know it, you've also learned significant design and color use strategies, which is typical of how Dianne teaches and of her previous books-Quilters Playtime: Games with Fabric (AQS 2004) and Oxymorons: Absurdly Logical Quilts (AQS 2001).

Wow, Dianne Hire likes to play with possibilities! Once she gets you started with learning her curvy techniques, you are in for some fun. She begins with explaining how to cut gentle curves from stacked squares (or rectangles) and then how to piece them. After that the fun begins with where you cut your curves and the number of colors you use. Design possibilities are endless as she leads you through 11 design projects. The book includes lots of photos for inspiration and some nifty tips, including one on using kitchen tongs to help with any fear of free-form rotary cutting.-- The Professional Quilter magazine, Summer 2012, page 26.

I am a huge fan of Dianne Hire. I absolutely loved her last book (“Quilters Playtime”) and have been patiently waiting for her next book. She did not disappoint. Curvy Quilts lets you have a little fun when you use her curved piecing techniques. No templates, no pins! She eases you into the techniques and gradually builds your confidence level as you proceed through the chapters. And she gives you lots of hints (in boxes) along the way. If you’re a little timid, just look at the gallery of quilts in the back of the book---awesome!

Exciting, very innovative quilts. Many clever and beautiful pictures of quilts for ideas. No “matchy” points, or precision sewing. A freeing technique that looks like a lot of fun. I cannot wait to try it.
