    Description

A clever foundation technique makes this popular pattern super easy to sew. Quilters who don't like the back-and-forth flipping that comes with foundation piecing will love Sumiko Minei's 'Top Pressed Piecing' technique, which keeps the pattern on the right side of the fabric. She adds innovation to the traditional Double Wedding Ring pattern with different connecting shapes such as squares and triangles, giving this old stand-by design a fresh, modern look. The book includes full-size foundation patterns for 7 different projects including Double Wedding Ring, Grape Peel, and Indian Wedding Ring. More than 100 step-by-step photos ensure sewing success. The Double Wedding Ring is a universal, perennial favorite among quilters, and the 3 quilting patterns and gallery quilts are sure to inspire the making of many classic quilts.

    Foundation-Pieced Double Wedding Ring Quilts - 02/28/2013
Reviewer: Christine Brown from Castle Pines, CO

Some patterns are timeless, and Double Wedding Ring is one of those. In fact, a variation of DWR won best of show in the Modern Quilt Guild convention (QuiltCon) in February 2013, demonstrating the pattern’s appeal to quilters of all ages. The author’s top-pressed foundation piecing method eliminates the need for flipping paper–you can see exactly what you’re sewing. A gallery of quilt photos for inspiration and three lovely quilting designs add to the book’s appeal.

Double Wedding Ring Quilts - 02/26/2013

This book explains a great technique to construct a pattern that is considered challenging or even troublesome by many quilters. But my favorite part of this updated pattern is the satin stitching around the rings and the other decorative stitches the designer employs. The machine stitching makes such a difference in this traditional quilt design, giving it a colorful, playful appearance.
