Official Rules

  1. How to Enter: No Purchase Necessary. Purchase will not increase entrant’s chance of winning. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Central time (CT) on July 15, 2009, until 5:00 p.m. CT on September 1, 2009, you may enter the AQS Quilts Galore GiveAway Des Moines 2009 (the “GiveAway”) in any of the following ways: (i) visit the American Quilter’s Society Web site (www.AmericanQuilter.com) and complete the online entry form by providing your name, complete address, phone number, and valid e-mail address (limit one online entry per person and per e-mail address); (ii) hand print your name, complete address, and phone number either on a postcard or separate piece of paper no larger than 8-1/2" x 11"; place it in an envelope; and mail the card or envelope to AQS Quilts Galore GiveAway Des Moines 2009, P.O. Box 3290, Paducah, KY 42002-3290 (the “mail-in address”). Limit one entry per person. Mail-in entrants must be postmarked by September 1, 2009, and received by September 4, 2009; (iii) return the entry card in the official envelope provided by mail to AQS members and former members. Mechanically reproduced entries will not be accepted. If an entrant uses multiple e-mail addresses to submit more than one online entry, only the first online entry will count. These official rules are also available at the American Quilter’s Society Web site or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to AQS Quilts Galore GiveAway Des Moines 2009 Rules, P.O. Box 3290, Paducah, KY 42002-3290. When you enter at the American Quilter’s Society Web site, you may be asked to consent to receive promotional e-mails and reminders for upcoming AQS promotions and information about American Quilter’s Society membership. Consenting to receive such e-mails is optional and does not have to be agreed to in order to be eligible to enter the GiveAway and does not improve your chances of winning. In the event you do consent to receive these e-mails, the use of such e-mails shall be subject to the privacy policies of the American Quilter’s Society, which are available on the AQS Web site.   2. Eligibility: This GiveAway is open only to legal residents of the U.S. and its territories, possessions, and commonwealths (excluding Puerto Rico) who are 18 years of age or older. Officers, directors, employees, and their immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, children, and each of their respective spouses) of Schroeder Publishing Company, Inc., HandiQuilter®, Tracey’s Tables®, Moda, and all other participating sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, and their advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, the “GiveAway Entities”) are not eligible to enter or win. Online entrants may also receive information from Sponsor regarding other promotional offers. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. All participants and/or entrants release the Sponsor, the GiveAway Entities, and their agents, advertising and promotion agencies, affiliated companies, GiveAway partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective affiliated companies, employees, officers, directors, and shareholders, from and against all claims and damages arising in connection with each entrant’s participation and/or entry in the GiveAway and/or their receipt or use of any prize awarded in the GiveAway. Grand Prize: One (1) winner will receive the HandiQuilter Machine Quilting System, with training, featuring the HQ Sixteen™ and delivery and setup within the 48 contiguous United States only; Quilting and cutting tables from Tracey’s Tables to include one (1) cutting table, one (1) hideaway, one (1) quilters cabinet, and one (1) thread cabinet; one (1) trip from October 28 to 31, 2009, to the American Quilter’s Society 2009 Quilt Expo-Des Moines, Iowa, which shall consist of: (a) roundtrip coach class air transportation for one (1) person between the major U.S. commercial airport nearest Grand Prize Winner’s residence in the 48 contiguous United States and Des Moines, Iowa, on October 28, 2009; returning October 31, 2009; (b) four (4) days/three (3) nights hotel accommodations in Des Moines, Iowa; (c) one (1) multi-day pass for entrance into the American Quilter’s Society 2009 Quilt Expo-Des Moines; (d) one (1) set of special event tickets to include: Christopher Nejman Celebrity Bags-A Fashion Show; The Denim Divas Fashion Show with Laurie Malm & Cheri Meineke-Johnson; An Evening with Eleanor Burns; and Ami Simms: Living with Quilts-A Survival Guide; and, a fabric collection from a variety of Moda designers to include Moda’s Jelly Rolls, Honey Buns, Layer Cakes, fat quarter bundles, a variety of yardage from Moda’s basic collections to be used for backing, borders, etc., and Moda’s own brand of Kyoto Bamboo Batting and Sewline notion items. Total ARV estimated $13,000.00 (US).

    All costs and expenses associated with any element of the Prizes not specifically addressed above are the sole responsibility of the Prizewinner. Sponsor shall solely determine the specifics of all aforementioned elements of any prizes in the GiveAway. All travel must occur on dates selected by Sponsor and are subject to change. Some restrictions may apply. The Prizewinner will be solely responsible for any and all other expenses, taxes, and fees associated with his/her prizes. Prizewinner agrees that neither Sponsor nor HandiQuilter, or other sponsoring companies have made or are responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prizes, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition, or fitness, except the machine does include HandiQuilter’s standard limited warranty as set forth in the sewing machine’s Owner’s Guide. No substitution, transfer of any prize (or any part of a prize package), or cash alternative is permitted, except in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes will be awarded.

  4. 1st Prize: one (1) trip from October 28 to 31, 2009, to the American Quilter’s Society 2009 Quilt Expo-Des Moines, Iowa, which shall consist of: (a) roundtrip coach class air transportation for one (1) person between the major U.S. commercial airport nearest Grand Prize Winner’s residence in the 48 contiguous United States and Des Moines, Iowa, on October 28, 2009, returning October 31, 2009; (b) four (4) days/three (3) nights hotel accommodations in Des Moines, Iowa; (c) one (1) multi-day pass for entrance into the American Quilter’s Society 2009 Quilt Expo-Des Moines; (d) one (1) set of special event tickets to include: Christopher Nejman Celebrity Bags-A Fashion Show; The Denim Divas Fashion Show with Laurie Malm & Cheri Meineke-Johnson; An Evening with Eleanor Burns; and Ami Simms: Living with Quilts-A Survival Guide; and (e) $200.00 US cash.   6. 3rd Prize: One hundred (100) Third-Prize Winners will receive a copy of Birds ‘n’ Roses: Appliqué Masterpiece by Margaret Docherty, published by the American Quilter’s Society. ARV $24.95 each, $2,495.00 total (US).

  7. Drawing and Notification: The Prizewinners will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries on or about September 9, 2009. Potential Grand Prize Winners will be notified by phone only on or about September 9, 2009. If a potential winner cannot be reached within twenty-four (24) hours from the first notification attempt, then such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Acceptance of prize must be confirmed within twenty-four (24) hours from the time personal contact is made with the potential winner, otherwise potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Judges’ decisions with respect to the winner and other matters pertaining to the GiveAway shall be final. Potential Grand Prize Winner will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability and publicity, and return same, properly executed, within two (2) days of issuance of prize notification. If American Quilter’s Society is unable to contact a potential prizewinner, if the potential Grand Prize Winner fails to complete and return all forms by the specified date, or if potential Grand Prize Winner fails to comply with any of the requirements, or if any prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, an alternate winner(s) shall be selected. Grand Prize Winners consent to the use of his/her name, photograph, likeness, biography, voice and/or video for advertising and promotional purposes, including online announcements, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. If, in the judges’ opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the GiveAway, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the GiveAway, the judges reserve the right to terminate the GiveAway and conduct a random drawing to award the prizes using all online and write-in entries received as of the termination date. Should the GiveAway be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, notice will be posted on the American Quilter’s Society Web site.

  8. Release of Liability: By entering this GiveAway, all entrants, any winners, and their family members, guests, invitees, agents, and employees release and hold harmless Sponsor and each of the GiveAway Entities, as well as the respective officers, directors, agents, employees, and shareholders of the foregoing entities and all others associated with the development and execution of this GiveAway from and against any and all actions, claims, and/or liability with respect to or in any way arising from participation in this GiveAway and/or acceptance or use of the prizes and any related travel and/or activities, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, or loss. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a prize (if any) are subject to the manufacturer’s terms therefore, and winner agrees to look solely to such manufacturer for any such warranty and/or guarantee.

  9. Winner’s list: To learn the name of the Grand Prize Winner, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope after September 9, 2009, to AQS Quilts Galore GiveAway Des Moines 2009, Winner’s List, P.O. Box 3290, Paducah, KY 42002-3290. Requests received after January 1, 2010, will not be honored.
