Sun, sea, new friends, good memories…and QUILTS! What more can you ask for on a vacation?
Sign up now for the second AQS Caribbean cruise, which will depart from Port Canaveral, Florida, on January 26, returning February 2, 2008. This quilter’s paradise includes at-sea workshops, the camaraderie of new-found friends, beautiful sunlit days touring Caribbean islands, and delicious food and service provided by Carnival Cruise Line. AQS host Helen Squire and Jim West of Sew Many Places will preside over the evening gatherings, the Sewing Salon, Show & Tell, and the Farewell Party.
Instructors and AQS authors Rita Fishel and Fran Morgan will present their unique classes. The cost of the precut kits for the projects is included in the price of the cruise.
Sunday you’ll make a Souvenir Beach Bag Tote project with Fran that incorporates chenille trim and some hand sewing. Make, take, and use this colorful reminder of your Caribbean cruise—a quilter’s delight.
On Thursday, Fran will present a lecture-demonstration featuring a trunk show of fashionable sweatshirt creations embellished with the popular Fabric Café® Chenille By The Inch™. She'll also demonstrate a wonderful method for making reverse-image appliqué.
On Sunday, start following the printed clues from lead detective Rita Fishel for a Sea-Quilt Mystery and make your own 60" x 70" quilt top. Choose from among the precut fabric kits and discover the solution to the quilt’s identity during the cruise. The fabric you’ll need has been cut into blocks, borders, and bindings and is available in a variety of color combinations. Individual quilts will be revealed at the Trunk Show on Thursday.
The Sewing Salon will be open for those quilters who want to sew in the evening. Books by these AQS authors can be purchased separately in class or brought from home to be autographed on board.
The cost of this 8-day / 7-night quilting adventure is only
$1099.00 per AQS member
$1199.00 per non-member
(Based on Double Occupancy)
The kit fees are included in the above price.
