Corner Units

Flip Units

Mark the back of the dark yellow 5½″ squares from corner to corner. Place in the corner of a light yellow 10½″ x 20½″ rectangle. Sew on the marked line. Trim away the excess fabric leaving a 1/4″ seam allowance and press. Repeat for all four corners.

Layer with batting and backing. Quilt as desired and bind.

Colorway Ideas

Look for inspiration in different regional styles. This quilt is inspired by Southwestern wool blankets.

Change the values in the quilt by using a dark color for the background fabric.

Colors from the same family, or analogous, are fun, but push for the family relationship to be more like cousins than siblings for some extra punch. Here we have greens that verge on neon yellow, an earthy-toned olive, all the way to teals which are almost blue. It's a family reunion of the Green family and everyone showed up for the party.
