Meet our new AQS Instructor Jeanette Walton! Jeanette will be teaching at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids, August 20-23, 2025.
If foundation paper piecing had a team, Jeanette Walton would be the captain. She’s precision-focused, practical, and here to teach you that yes, you can do that!
This August, Jeanette joins the AQS QuiltWeek – Grand Rapids faculty for the first time, bringing her signature brand of humor, clarity, and expertise to workshops featuring Quiltworx patterns. As a Certified Instructor with Judy Niemeyer’s Quiltworx program since 2014, Jeanette knows the ins and outs of these intricate designs and loves showing beginners that they’re more approachable than they look.
In 2001, after attending a quilt class with friends, Jeanette was bitten by the quilting bug. She took to it like a duck in water! Since then, she’s taught classes across the country and abroad, inspiring quilters with her roadmap approach to paper piecing.
Jeanette’s roots in quilting run deep. Both her mother and grandmother were hand quilters, and she still lives in the house she grew up in. Surrounded by memories and a legacy of stitchers before her, she brings a respect for tradition to everything she does—but with a modern, approachable twist.
Her teaching style is down-to-earth and confidence-boosting, especially for beginners. Jeanette believes quilting should be joyful, doable, and just a little bit addictive. She’s passionate about showing quilters that foundation paper piecing isn’t intimidating when you have the right guidance and a pattern that makes sense.
Her workshops at Grand Rapids are perfect for anyone looking to build confidence in foundation paper piecing, especially if you’ve ever said, “I could never do that.”
Spoiler alert: With Jeanette as your guide, you absolutely can.
