What a fun use of the Wing Clipper I and Tucker Trimmer! Learn a variation of the Geese on Edge technique. Start with a simple square, add logs, add a goose, and repeat. There are lots of possible variations! Birds on a Wire pattern offers five sizes and ten different variations using the same technique and fabric. If you want a larger quilt, you can just add more blocks. This is a fabulous project to use up scraps! You can use mixed scraps, Fat Quarters, Fat Eights, etc. for the bright fabrics. The background can be a mixed of fabrics, as well, or yardage. It is important to have enough contrast between your background fabric and the bright fabric. You will need an accent fabric (shown in black here). Neutrals are a great choice for the accent. You will learn three methods for joining already quilted blocks. Methods one and two use sashing that follow Pauline Rogers’ method for plain and/or Appliqué blocks and then pieced blocks. For these twomethods students will learn to join together blocks that are layered and quilted to the edge sashing strips and spacer strips.
