Heine, Laura
Laura began quilting over 36 years ago. The journey of quilting led to opening Fiberworks, her quilt shop in Billings, MT, to designing over 50 different lines of fabrics, her own collection of threads, and her current obsession, making collage quilts! Laura’s work has been published in many magazines, and her book Color Fusion…Fiberworks by Laura Heine, written in 2004, is a book of her personal journey! Laura has won many awards, with the most prestigious being the $10,000 Bernina Award for Best Machine Workmanship from American Quilter’s Society. Many of her quilts have been featured in ads and brochures. Laura’s collage quilts showcase fused applique, cut flower motifs, and an impressionistic way of using color and value to create one-of-a-kind quilts using fabric as her palette.
