Kathy’s lecture will inspire you with photos, design tips, and samples to help you choose the best style and size of borders to razzle dazzle your own finish line. Kathy will cover a lot of ideas for inner and outer borders, as well as tips for constructing those winning borders. Bring quilt tops that you need ideas for and Kathy will get to as many of those tops as she has time for at the end of class (optional). Kathy’s book on innovative borders will be available for purchase in class. Supplies are not required for a lecture, although you may want to bring a pen and paper to take notes.

Fast, fun, and oh so magical. Step into the world of pictorial appliqué. Learn the steps of layered UNIT appliqué to enhance your designs. Two appliqué methods will be used to create your turtle. The Easy Apliquick method - turned edges create more loft, dimension, and longevity in your turtles. You will use this method for the larger shapes and then fuse on the smaller mosaic flipper shapes. Kathy will be teaching the Apliquick method. Apliquick tools are required for this workshop. Kathy will go over her favorite machine appliqué stitch. Class objectives: Tips for basic pattern making for all sea critters using base shapes, shading objects to increase the sense of form using Kathy’s favorite paint crayons, choosing fabrics for pictorial work, creating 3-D embellishments, and quilting the Pictorial quilt.
