Dating back to the late sixteenth century, Dorset buttons have been a great way to embellish quilting projects and knitwear. You can finish them as jewelry pieces if you wish. They are functional too! Start the class by making the traditional Blandford cartwheel before discussing some variations, including a fan-style button and the Maltese Cross. Catherine will show you how to include beads and will finish the class with a look at styles inspired by vintage buttons of the 1950s.

Dimensional Embroidered Hand Stitches, #26504
Add some more advanced dimensional stitches to your embroidery vocabulary as you work on your piece from a selection of pre-printed fabric samplers. While in class, Catherine will teach you how to create the crested chain stitch, bullion stitch, double cast-on, drizzle, trellis, and more!

Add some sparkle and dimension to your quilts with beads! Learn how to attach beads so they won’t fall off and so much more! We will work on small pre-made postcard sized quits and try seed stitch, beaded back stitch, couching, stacks, and fringes. We’ll learn the best ways to sew bugle beads and finish with elegant edge techniques including moss stitch, picots, wrapping, and artful arches.
