Learn to make dramatic illusions of steps and risers with simple piecing and thoughtful fabric. For this class, you will be playing with light, medium, and dark fabrics of a variety of colors. Greg will teach you a simple 45 degree template technique. Learn to select and place the proper light, medium, and dark fabrics, so that you create “dimensional steps.”

Fabulous Four Kites, #347503
With a simple kite template create this stunning four-point diamond block. This technique allows you to take a variety of 1½” and 2” strips and create fun kite blocks that can be squared up. As you create more kites and put them together, different patterns will be formed. Creating kites are a great way to use up your scraps!

Are you ready to give improv curves a try? Learn how to take a wide variety of colors and patterns, and an easy technique, to create gentle curves that can be sewn together to create fun projects. Learn Greg’s technique and tips for curved piecing. This project has a lot of flexibility as you can just continue to add strips in the same manner until your project reaches the desired length.

Stanchion Stack and Shuffle, #347511
Learn this fun stack and shuffle technique! With just a group of fabrics, you will be able to create a tons of different improv “posts” and “bases” to be used to build a fantastic quilt. Learn how to properly cut the fabric in order to sew each of your slices together in a manner that allows you to continue to build upon. Greg will take you through his strategy and options for arranging the pieces in an alternating pattern.

Learn how to take an ombre fabric, along with a coordinating fabric, to create this dimensional quilt featuring octagon blocks. Learn a simple method utilizing a 45 degree template to take strips to triangles. Greg will teach you his technique and tips for arranging and piecing this quilt to create a variety of patterns.

Start with a large scale print fabric and build a beautiful design. This technique is all about texture, movement, sparkle and swirl. By taking a repeat fabric, and a hexagon template, you can create unlimited block designs. Learn how to arrange and sew the hexagons into rows that will create a quilt top with a wide variety of kaleidoscope patterns. Registration for this class includes show admission for Wednesday.
