Instructor

Smith, Annie
Annie Smith is a quilt imaginer, author, national and international quilt instructor, and a podcaster. She walked in to a quilt shop in 1984 to buy a new sewing machine and walked out with an invitation to teach quilting classes. You could say that Annie’s life is filled with quilts, and she knows a thing or two about quilting. Machine appliqué, color, and fabric selection are Annie’s passion and expertise. Give Annie cloth, a sewing machine (BERNINA preferred), thread, and a great pair of scissors, and she turns out spectacular pieces — from prom dresses to quilts to intricate appliqué coats. A life-long Californian, Annie now resides with her family in Justin, TX. To see more go to anniesmith.net

Lecture/Demo
Wednesday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Mezzanine
Smith, Annie
All Levels
$75
Plus Material Fee

If our quilts could talk, would they share our special stories? Each of the quilts we make contain stories that only we know; what was happening our lives, in the world, our communities, our homes and in our hearts – when they were made. Just as important as the label is on a quilt to identify the owner, our stories tucked away in our quilts are important to those who receive our quilts. Annie shares special stories belonging to famous quilters, unknown quilters, and even some stories of her life by sharing a trunk show of her quilts – and why these stories are so important. We'll examine possible stories that are buried in the quilts, discuss elements of the stories, outline our own story and begin writing.
