Fabric Requirements:
One 40-strip 2 1/2" strip pack
White Fabric - 4 2/3 yards
Backing - 6 yards
Binding - 2/3 yard
Cutting Instructions:
From the white fabric, cut:
(160) 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangles
(25) 2 1/2" x 16 1/2" rectangles
(12) 2 1/2" strips from the width of fabric, sewn into (6) 2 1/2" x 74 1/2" strips
From the strip pack, cut:
(160) 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangles
Rail Unit
Sew a colored 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle to a white 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ rectangle. Make 160.
Sew two of the units together to make a Rail unit.
Unit measures 8 1/2" square. Make 80.
Block Assembly
Sew two Rail units together, using the block image as a guide for orientation. Repeat for the two remaining Rail units. Sew the two rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 16 1/2" x 16 1/2" unfinished. Make 20.
Quilt Assembly
Layout blocks in rows of four. Sew a 2 1/2" x 16 1/2" strip between each block, and one on each end. Make 5 rows.
Sew a 2 1/2" x 74 1/2" strip between each row, and one to each end to complete the quilt.
Layer with batting and backing, quilt as desired, and bind. Now all that's left to do is to enjoy your Rainbow Rails jellyroll quilt!
