A Mola is a multi- layered reverse appliqué piece that is created by cutting down through the layers and handstitching them to the layer below. Everyone starts with the same pattern, but there’s lots of room for your creativity to shine through. You’ll learn how to think through your personalized design to create it in four layers of fabric to stunning effect, choosing your colors and creating your own added design motifs. Our Mola project will use 4 layers of contrasting fabric; a top, middle, and background layer, with touches of a fourth fabric for appliqué circles. Though the stitching is done by hand, you will learn how to baste both by hand and machine forspeed. Registration for this class includes show admission for Wednesday.

Quilt-As-You-Go: Three Methods on a Machine, #37119f
Do you have trouble getting your quilts quilted on your sit-down sewing machine because of all that bulk? Quilt first and then sew your quilt top together. Let me teach you how. You will learn three methods for joining already quilted blocks. Methods one and two use sashing that follow Pauline Rogers’ method for plain and/or Appliqué blocks and then pieced blocks. For these twomethods students will learn to join together blocks that are layered and quilted to the edge sashing strips and spacer strips. You will learn how to use the handy sasher tool and Roxanne’s basting glue makes joining quilted blocks a breeze. Method three joins the quilted blocks from the top without sashing, and then hand closes the back.
Registration for this class includes show admission for Friday.
