Create Custom Fabric: Inspired by Moroccan Tiles, #14504
In this class, you’ll be inspired by Moroccan and Art Deco cement tiles to create a unique design for printing on fabric. You’ll learn how to use an updated version of a stencil printing technique (Pochoir Printing) to make custom fabric for your next quilt or sewing project. Learn about registration for nearly perfect printing, repeat patterns, single and multi-color designs, and much more. You’ll leave with two to three pieces of original fabric and the knowledge to make more. A wide variety of tiles will be presented for inspiration.

Elements of Design, #11808
Good design starts with the basic elements like color, texture, line, and shape. Develop an understanding of what you see and what you like, then apply it to your quilts - traditional, art, modern, and contemporary. This lecture features real life examples of these elements in action on quilts and offers solutions to common design problems. Supplies are not required for a lecture, although you may want to bring a pen and paper to take notes.

Learn an assortment of different and unusual ways to finish the edges of your quilts using hand and machine sewing. Jane will also show you how to effectively use non-traditional materials and supplies in this lively workshop. You will create unique and original edges on your work using beads, thread, ribbon, or paint. Work on a series of small samples in class to use as future reference, and explore variations of each technique.

Come spend the afternoon with Jane to learn direct and indirect transfer methods to add images to your projects. Transfer Artist Paper, acrylic paint, solvent, and medium transfers. Plus direct printing on a variety of fabrics will be covered. Jane will also discuss gelatin print transfers. Methods will cover transferring images from photos, transparencies, and magazines.

Nature Print Pastiche Collage, #14501
In this class, Jane will teach you how to combine a variety of surface designs and printing techniques to create a small collage. You’ll learn how to create a main (printed) subject, make background blocks, and a technique for fabric accents and then, you’ll finish your collage with big stitch quilting.

This class is the perfect chance to try out all of the hot new supplies for fabric printing with no pressure, just play. Experiment with a large variety of materials and supplies on fabric, including Paintstiks, inks, paints, mediums, metallic foil, Inktense pencils, water-soluble pastels, and more. Learn all about the properties of these materials and how to use them in your fiber art. Registration for this class includes show admission for Wednesday.
