Davila, Jane
Jane Davila is a fiber and mixed-media artist who incorporates many printmaking techniques into her work. She teaches printmaking, surface design, and art business workshops extensively across the US, as well as internationally, including in South Korea, Canada, and Australia. Jane has appeared numerous times on Quilting Arts TV, shown on PBS stations nationwide. She writes about a variety of art quilting, surface design, and mixed media topics for national craft and art magazines. She is the author of the three best-selling books on the topics of art quilting and surface design for C&T Publishing, Art Quilt Workbook, Art Quilts at Play, and Jane Davila's Surface Design Essentials. In this class, you’ll be inspired by Moroccan and Art Deco cement tiles to create a unique design for printing on fabric. You’ll learn how to use an updated version of a stencil printing technique (Pochoir Printing) to make custom fabric for your next quilt or sewing project. Learn about registration for nearly perfect printing, repeat patterns, single and multi-color designs, and much more. You’ll leave with two to three pieces of original fabric and the knowledge to make more. A wide variety of tiles will be presented for inspiration.
