Lorelai Kuecker’s quilting journey began in March 2021 with a single heartfelt project—a Quilt of Valor for her mother. Armed with a gifted stash of patriotic fabric and a used Brother sewing machine, she dove headfirst into the world of quilting through online tutorials. By Mother’s Day, her first quilt was complete, and she was hooked. Her passion for quilting soared when she first laid hands on a longarm machine. Within minutes of instruction, she was stitching with confidence, and by the time she finished her first quilt, she already had plans for several more. A visit to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival sealed the deal—after testing longarms from various brands, she found her perfect match. Just four months after completing her first quilt, Pigs in a Blanket Quilting was born. Lorelai’s creativity soon expanded beyond traditional quilting. Before her first year in business ended, she added an industrial sewing machine to her studio, unlocking new possibilities in quilted clothing and bags. Her talent quickly gained recognition, and in August 2022, she showcased her work at the Missouri State Fair—earning an impressive 12 blue, 13 red, and 7 white ribbons in the Home Economics Building.
