In this workshop, learn how to use rulers, stencils, and other items to help fit and form your feather work. Join Sarah as she helps you use many ruler shapes and stencils to create dazzling feathers on your quilt tops. From blocks and borders to custom motifs, you will leave this workshop more comfortable stitching numerous plume types and many spine variations and the ability to create your own unique feather designs. Free-Motion Quilting ABC 1-2-3, #358520
Have you always wanted to free-motion quilt but were too anxious to do so? Join Sarah in this hands-on workshop and be liberated with free-motion quilting! With a bit of humor and a lot of encouragement, she will take you through a series of designs that are both simple yet highly effective on your quilt tops. By the end of the workshop, you will feel more comfortable and brave with a variety of shapes and designs in different sizes. You will be working on and sharing a BERNINA Q20/Q16 with a partner. Fun Feather Foundations, #358521
Are you new to quilting or comfortable with basic free-motion quilting and now want to add a few feathers to your quilt tops? Join Sarah as she takes you through a handful of feather motifs and styles that work well together and can be customized to each individual's likes and abilities. This workshop will have you both drawing and working on the machine to determine your personal feather style as well as learning various techniques to create feather motifs. Micro Quilting Magnificence, #358526
Add dimension, interest, and personality to your quilt design with micro quilting! Feel the difference between different stitch regulation settings, and experiment with many designs as you stitch miniature in this workshop. From micro stippling, pebbles, radiator coils, and more, Sarah will help you navigate through the many miniature options and also combine average-sized designs with micro quilting to achieve a stunning finished result. Just like handwriting, everyone's micro quilting will have its own unique variations, so there's no wrong way to achieve your micro quilted signature. This is the workshop for you! Sarah will guide you through hands-on quilting using basic straight edge, curve, and wave rulers to create crosshatch, arcs, and more! Whether you're new to using rulers or simply want to hone your skills, you will leave the workshop with an abundance of ideas, encouragement, and motivation to add ruler quilting to your repertoire! Sketchbook Quilting, #358525
Sketchbook Quilting is Sarah's approachable, uninhibited, "no rules" style of free-motion quilting. In this fun hands-on workshop, you will become more comfortable with drawing your own style of free-motion designs and seeing them come to life on the fabric. You’ll turn these designs into multiple groupings and combinations by building off the foundation pieces. In doing so, you’ll be ready to create your own set of personal go-to designs, practice fillers, and also develop the muscle memory of drawing the doodles. Each BERNINA Q20/Q16 will accommodate two students to share and to practice transferring the sketchbook doodles to the quilt top. Sarah will also show you how to use a variety of rulers and stencils to help create basic shapes and line guides for the doodling. This workshop will teach and encourage you to quilt without rules, thus making each finished quilt unique to your personal style and abilities. Threaducation on a Sit-Down Longarm, #358528
Have you ever said, "My machine doesn't like that thread?" or "I can only quilt with XYZ thread?" Then this is the workshop for you! Learn about different weights of thread for quilting. Education is key, and Sarah will explain the uses and finished effects of different thread weights, as well as cotton, metallic, water-soluble, and monofilament fibers, in this hands-on workshop. Sarah also covers thread basics, including information on weight and ply, spool positioning, needle recommendations, and tension settings. She will offer helpful tips and tricks, then share projects and photos aimed to inspire and expand your use of threads. You will be sharing a BERNINA Q16/20 sit-down longarm machine in this hands-on workshop. The skills taught in this workshop are transferable to your home domestic sewing machine.
