Instructor Workshops

Beach Bumz, #45W7501
A classic setting for the New York Beauty block created with current batik fabrics. Learn Linda's unique technique for creating perfect New York Beauty blocks using just ONE pin. This project is partially paper pieced using foundation paper that stays in the quilt!!

Castleton Corner, #45W7500
This dynamic wallhanging will look fabulous in any fabric combination! We will kick up the New York Beauty block with a slightly more challenging combination of piecing which uses multi-fabric pieces, and some alternating color spires. This block combines with a very simple block for an eye-catching result. Linda will show you how this will open up many more design opportunities! Throughout the workshop, Linda will demonstrate how to create an optional miniature using the scraps and cutaways from the main project.

Concept to Quilted, #45HAHN
Have you ever wondered where designers get their inspiration for their fabric designs, patterns or books? At times, it may be a middle of the night epiphany, other times it may be climbing through bushes in the rain to get just the right photo angle of a gorgeous hibiscus before the security guard arrives!!! Your creative juices will be flowing and you’ll never look at a hotel rug or bathroom tile the same way again by the time you leave.
Linda shares her thought process, photos, color selection and processes to develop her fabric collections. She’ll also cover considerations for designing patterns for books and magazines such as color coordination and selection, using the appropriate size piece for the specific fabric, choosing the block design to work with the fabric you have.
There’ll be some time afterwards for some quick Q&A.

i Sparkle, #45S7509
Create a dynamic wall hanging quickly and accurately using one of Linda's favorite notions for half square triangles. Believe it or not, this fun design is made using just one block with some of the components brought out into the border. We’ll be using Linda’s favorite triangle paper that makes creating perfect (and accurate) half square triangles go super-fast, and also keeps you organized. This can very easily be made larger if you so choose.

Introduction to EQ8, #45F9504
Do you have the EQ8 software and don't know where to begin? Linda is an EQ Artist. All of the quilts in her nine books were designed in EQ software. In this workshop, she will walk you through the sketchbook, libraries, keyboard shortcuts, exporting designs, printing and so much more.

South Beach Spinners, #45T7102t
Linda puts a new spin on the New York Beauty block! Students will learn Linda's unique technique for creating perfect New York Beauty blocks on the first attempt using just ONE pin! Throughout the workshop, she will demonstrate how to make an optional miniature version using the scraps and cutaways of the main project. Once the New York Beauty blocks are created, we'll add some strips and then skew the blocks to create a fabulously dynamic quilt top!
Registration for this workshop includes complimentary show admission for Thursday.
