Bloomers: Learn Orange Peel Variation, #16W3100w
With this wonderful Orange Peel variation, set on the traditional Ferris Wheel block, you can create the impression that there's a lot more going on here than there really is. This workshop focuses on a unique way to connect everything with amazing precision using a good basic machine appliqué technique. During the workshop, time is spent on preparation of the block. Your work will be sufficiently glue-basted and completely ready to stitch when you get home! Registration for this workshop includes complimentary show admission for Wednesday.
Freemotion Raw Edge Appliqué, #16S8506
A leafy gala of fabric, color, guided free-cutting, improvisation, and freemotion stitching. Great first experience for those new to freemotion machine quilting! Super fun, and most everyone finishes their little quilt (small version is pictured).
Improvisational Appliqué, #16T3101t
Whatever you’ve thought about machine appliqué before, prepare to be surprised! We will explore three innovative methods to create free-form lines and curves, all with a beautifully turned edge. While this is ultimately a machine technique, we will spend class time on preparation and complete the stitching at home. Registration for this workshop includes complimentary show admission for Thursday.
Lunch & Learn: Stories, Quilts, and Trunk Show with Karen K. Stone, #16FLUNCH
Join Karen for lunch while she shares images of her earliest to latest quilts and some of their stories, relating lessons learned, and her passage from mouse to... less of a mouse. She will have several quilts along and welcomes questions at any time throughout the presentation. Lunch will be provided for you. There will be options to choose from during registration. Lecture will start at noon once meals have been given out.
Organizing Color in Scrap Quilts, #16F5500
Color and fabric selection, while the most personal and expressive aspects of making quilts, can also be the most intimidating, especially at first. Karen will relate her passage from mouse to goddess, share confidence building palette skills, and explore interpretive possibilities from your shopping bag.
