Asleep at the Beach, #16W7101w
Create the illusion of curves, motion, and depth with strip piecing and straight seams. Discover the easy process that produces complex-looking results. Create a chart to keep track of fabric placement. Sew strip sets, then slice up the sets in different widths. Add measured strips of a multi-colored, variable width stripe fabric to build vertical columns. No pre-cutting is required. The kit includes precut strips. Learn how to use a bargello design chart and all the tricks for straight columns, seam matching and staying organized. We'll complete about half the quilt top during class time and go home with all the skills to finish it. Registration for this workshop includes complimentary show admission for Wednesday.
Chutzpah 3D, #16F7510
Create the illusion of 3D with measured strips cut at 60° angles and assembled in vertical rows. Double Frame Hijinks, #16F7511
Take the next step up from Log Cabin blocks. Build easy blocks that create a complex double frame illusion. Start with a square block and add strips, building outward alternating complete frames with partial frames to achieve a block that has dimension. Use a “block map” to keep track of color placement and chain-piecing to speed up the construction process. Experiment with a variety of layouts to customize the final look.
