At the AQS Seam Quilt Retreat, you’ll choose the instructor who inspires you and spend the entire retreat learning directly from them in a focused, hands-on setting. Group lunches and evening events bring all retreat attendees together. However, your learning experience is in a private classroom with your chosen instructor and classmates.

Session Description:

Join Barbara Cline for a fun skill-building quilting adventure, where you'll create a stunning sampler quilt featuring intricate eight-pointed stars! Perfect for quilters of all levels, this session will introduce you to new techniques and build your confidence as you progress through increasingly complex star blocks. Learn time-saving strip piecing, precise diamond cutting, and template usage, all without the need for tricky inset seams. By the end of the retreat, you’ll not only have a beautifully pieced quilt top but also the knowledge and skills to tackle more advanced quilting projects in the future.

  • Border construction with diamonds in a unique learning process

Project Description:

Create a dazzling quilt made of eight-pointed star blocks designed to look complex but come together with ease! Barbara has designed this project to grow your skills as you progress from beginner-friendly stars to more advanced blocks, each one building on the last. The centerpiece is a magnificent Cactus Star surrounded by 12” blocks and a beautifully constructed diamond border. By the end of the retreat, you’ll have completed most of the blocks, the Cactus Star, and some of the borders, setting you on the path to finishing a quilt that’s truly a showstopper.

       

Quilt Retreat Package includes:

  • Hotel Accommodations at the Holiday Inn Downtown Paducah*
    – 5 Nights (Tuesday night -Sunday morning)

    – Wednesday–Saturday Workshops: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. (1 hour lunch break)

  • Thursday Evening - Thursday Night in Fabric Paradise: An Evening at Hancock’s of Paducah
    –  Join us for a thrilling evening at Hancock’s of Paducah, a quilter's paradise!
    –     Hancock’s will offer special deals exclusively for AQS Members and if needed can help handle the shipping of your purchases.
    –     Need transportation? AQS will provide a complimentary shuttle service, for those without an automobile, between the hotel and Hancock’s. Seating will be limited.
    –     Reserve your shuttle seat during registration.
  • Saturday Evening - Farewell Mixer and Reception
  • Sewing Machine Rental - Available for an additional charge or you can bring your own
