At the AQS Seam Quilt Retreat, you’ll choose the instructor who inspires you and spend the entire retreat learning directly from them in a focused, hands-on setting. Group lunches and evening events bring all retreat attendees together. However, your learning experience is in a private classroom with your chosen instructor and classmates.

Class Description:

Join us for a vibrant quilting retreat and workshop featuring the bold, colorful patterns and fabric designs of world-renowned designer Jacqueline de Jonge. Under the guidance of certified instructor Stacie Spradlin, you will explore the beauty of Jacqueline’s designs while learning the basics of foundation paper piecing as well as special techniques for creating perfect circles and flawless points.

Throughout the event, Stacie will share tips, tricks, and hands-on demonstrations that will help you master the following:

  • Foundation Paper Piecing
  • Set-In Seams
  • Mitered Corners
  • Star Points
  • And more!

BeColourful designs are known for their brilliant fabrics, movement, and artistry, making them the perfect choice for quilts, wall hangings, and home decor. Whether you are new to paper piecing or looking to expand your skills, this workshop offers the perfect blend of learning, inspiration, and fun. Building your paper-piecing skills will undoubtedly help with all other aspects of quilting. Come ready to stitch, learn, and leave with the confidence to bring Jacqueline’s dazzling designs to life!

Students may choose between the Happiness 2.0 or the Four Seasons Table Runner patterns. Several colorways are available. If one of these projects has already been successfully completed by a student, please contact Stacie directly so that another pattern can be suggested and chosen. Quilt Retreat Package includes:

  • Hotel Accommodations at the Holiday Inn Downtown Paducah*
    – 5 Nights (Tuesday night -Sunday morning)
    – Breakfast Buffet (Wednesday–Sunday)

    – An Evening at The National Quilt Museum for a Private Viewing and Pre-Dinner Reception
  • 4 Full-Day Sessions with one of our World-Class Instructors in Convention Center Classrooms

    – Wednesday–Saturday Workshops: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. (1 hour lunch break)

    –  Join us for a thrilling evening at Hancock’s of Paducah, a quilter's paradise!
    –     Hancock’s will offer special deals exclusively for AQS Members and if needed can help handle the shipping of your purchases.
    –     Need transportation? AQS will provide a complimentary shuttle service, for those without an automobile, between the hotel and Hancock’s. Seating will be limited.
    –     Reserve your shuttle seat during registration.
  • Saturday Evening - Farewell Mixer and Reception
  • Sewing Machine Rental - Available for an additional charge or you can bring your own
