Abstraction: Jumpstarting Your Creativity, #345102
In this class, you will start with your favorite photograph of a landscape, still life, architecture, etc. Katie will teach you how to create a simplified version for the first piece. Then, take that further, to create the same image using geometric shapes to create a strong abstraction. Color, value, shape, and form will be the focus of this class. Class fee includes a boxed lunch.
Composition with Lines: Jumpstarting Your Creativity, #345101
Focus on composition and value with the design element of lines, straight and curved. In class, you will create four 12-inch little pieces using different rules of design, layering, and complementary colors. These four pieces will then be cut up to create a dynamic, abstract grid composition. Join Katie as she shows you the steps to jumpstarting your creativity with composition and lines! Class fee includes a boxed lunch.
Distorting Still Life: Jumpstarting Your Creativity, #345103w
Create a whimsical still life out of fabric then cut it up to create an abstract rendition. Many painters lay down a “ground” color called an underpainting and that ground color then influences the colors of the overpainting, unifying the composition. You will begin by making a simple still life, creating a background, foreground, and simplified vase, and flowers against a contrasting foundation fabric. Katie will then show you how to cut up the creation to reassemble the parts, creating a grid-like construction. The results are amazing! Registration for this class includes show admission for Wednesday.
