Bear Paw Workshop with Quilters Select

Join the Quilters Select team and members of the Official Quilters Select Facebook Group for the Bear Paw Workshop designed for all experience levels.

The quilt features the classic Bear Paw block with multiple layout options to choose from. Go contemporary or classic - the adventure is up to you!

In this workshop, you'll explore constructing the basic Paw units with Half Square Triangle construction methods, consider sashing options, and learn to work with pre-cut fabric bundles. All resource links will be emailed and posted on the Official Quilters Select Facebook Group page.

From classic to contemporary, join the Quilters Select team for a Bear Paw Workshop. Explore the block’s history, variations, and construction techniques to create precision pieced units. Review the Just the Facts information, gather your fabrics, and get ready to stitch along.

Block Details

• Finished unit size: 6”

• Finished Block (with 1” finished sashing): 13”

Quilt Details

• Choose your own quilt layout. Several options have been provided in the Just the Facts PDF.

• Yardage information provided in the Just the Facts PDF is based on the Classic Layout shown on page 1.

• If you select the Classic Layout without borders, the finished quilt size is 55” x 55” square.

• 6/23/25 The Paws: 4-patch & Fussy Cut

• 6/30/25 Bear Toes: 8 At a Time Half Square Units

This week, you’ll be creating Half-Square Triangles using the 8-at-a-time method.

This week, you’ll continue stitching your Bear Toes using the 4-at-a-Time Method.

• 7/14/25 Bear Toes: Fussy Cut Triangles

This week, you are finishing up the HST units needed to complete the Toes. The tutorial features the traditional two-at-a-time method and the 3N1Ruler Method.

• 7/21/25 Building the Units

This week’s installment of the Bear Paw Stitch Along focuses on the unit construction. Spoiler alert! If you are still stitching the Toes or have not 100% committed to a layout, we have another week before we reach the Fork in the Woods.

• 7/28/25 A Fork in the Woods

Which way do we go??? This week is a catch-up week. Do you have unfinished Paws to stitch? Toes to trim? Is it time to re-evaluate the layout?

And remember, you have the opportunity to win Quilters Select products by posting your progress! Each week, Quilters Select will announce a winner from the participants who posted a progress photo the prior week. And on 8/25 they’ll have one additional drawing for those who post a photo of a finished top (does not need to be quilted) with at least 48 Paw units.

• 8/4/25 Building the Blocks/Sashing

Rounding up our quadrant construction with a narrow sashing and cornerstones. Explore sashing sizes and cornerstone colors to really set off the units.
